RYA Shorebased Coastal Skipper / Yachtmaster (Theory)
Course Content
This is an advanced course which assumes prior completion of the RYA Day Skipper course or the equivalent knowledge and is intended to be both. It develops more advanced navigation, including chart work, position fixing, tides, buoyage and off-shore passage planning as well as the essential subjects of safety, International Regulations for Preventing Collisions at Sea and meteorology. The course is equally suited to both sail and powerboat users. With the increasing use of modern electronic aids to navigation, an introduction to the safe use of GPS is also included. The course is essential preparation for the RYA Coastal Skipper Practical Course or the Yachtmaster Examination

Knowledge of navigation up to RYA Day Skipper level
