RYA Yachtmaster Ocean Shorebased
Course Content
This is an advanced course, which assumes prior completion of the RYA Coastal Skipper/Yachtmaster course or the equivalent experience and is intended to be both enjoyable and informative. It covers celestial navigation, use of the sextant, navigation tables, the Nautical Almanac and ocean passage planning as well as the essential subjects of safety, ocean meteorology and routeing. The course is equally suited to both sail and powerboat users. With the increasing use of modern electronic aids to navigation, an introduction to the safe use of GPS is also included. The course is essential preparation for a qualifying passage for the Yachtmaster Ocean Examination
Minimum Previous Experience
Knowledge of navigation up to RYA Coastal skipper / Yachtmaster Theory
